The first cold blast of the year arrived last week, quickly sending water temperatures down up to 15 degrees, so fishing took a three-day hit to wait out the winds and the return of some warm air. The pattern of periodic fronts will challenge anglers to pick and choose their fishing days carefully. Today's forecast has both good news and bad news, and since I always prefer the bad news first, you don't have a choice. The bad news is that today the moon is the furthest away from the earth, which means it has little or no effect on fish and wildlife. Fish will not be migrating in a predictable pattern to feed.
