A road that travels over the Little Manatee River will once again be out of commission for a few days. The County Road 579 bridge will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Monday to repair the remaining damaged wooden supports. WIMAUMA - Hillsborough officials have closed the County Road 579 bridge over the Little Manatee River because a routine inspection turned up two rotting supports. While channel markers, buoys and range markers are not intended to guide anglers to their quarry, the huge, brightly colored navigation aids are always a good place to start looking for kingfish, Spanish mackerel, blues, bonito, cobia or tripletail, to say nothing of virtually every type of offshore baitfish that swims in the Gulf of Mexico. ...more
