SEBRING –– Two of the three county budget office employees fired for sending sexually explicit instant messages on their county work computers during work hours are threatening state and, if that doesn't work, federal legal action. Those threats were made by Jim McCollum, attorney for Treasa Handley and Jarod Lee, who were fired for sending several thousand "inappropriate" instant messages during work, many of them described as "sexually explicit." ...more

A spokeswoman for Tampa General Hospital has confirmed that Michael B. McCraken, 44, of Sebring, has died as a result of injuries he sustained after failing off a moving trailer on Tuesday, in the Tanglewood subdivision. ...more

SEBRING – Sebring attorney Jim McCollum said people who don't think about the future will be stuck in the past. McCollum, who has been practicing law in Sebring for 35 years, thought ahead by bringing in two attorneys. Mia Mancinelli and J.L. Perez joined the firm last year. The firm will be known as McCollum, Mancinelli and Perez P.L. Mancinelli and Perez are considered members, which McCollum described as the "functional equivalent" of a partner. SEBRING — With sacks full of candy, fairies, mummies, witches and pirates made their way around the Circle on Friday morning during the annual Harvest of Treats. More festivities continue tonight as trick-or-treating starts in all three municipalities.
