At a recent luncheon for the Newcomers of Northwest Hillsborough, member Gerry Ostroff revisited the place of her birth. The luncheon, which featured period fashions from La France, took place at the historic don Vincente hotel in Ybor City. Ostroff told the group that she was born at the A.A. Gonzalez Clinic and Hospital built by V.M Ybor. Norma Puglisi, another member and fashion show model, said she was a patient in the room used for dressing the models. The fashion show, coordinated by Marianne Sapsera and Karen Trott, included dresses and accessories from 1910 through 1980. ...more

The interim manager of the BayWalk shopping and entertainment complex in St. Petersburg was arrested today, accused of taking more than $170,000 from a real estate company where he used to work. Howard Rosenthal, 53, of 527 Harbor Groves Circle, Safety Harbor, was charged with one count of felony grand theft. He took over as BayWalk interim manager this week; none of the charges are connected to his work at BayWalk. ...more
