Palm Harbor University High School softball had made such a habit of qualifying for the postseason over the past decade that it seemed the Florida High School Athletic Association could probably just save time by slotting the Hurricanes in its 32-team bracket in February. Ten years in a row PHU made trips to the playoffs. Three of those runs ended with state titles. It has been 27 years since a Hillsborough County public school boys basketball team won a state title. In 1982, King will attempt to end that drought this week but must first go through Gainesville in the Class 5A semifinals at 7 tonight at The Lakeland Center.
