Former Nature Coast boys basketball head coach Travis Priddy has been hired as the new head coach at Freedom, athletic director Elijah Thomas announced. Priddy replaces Randy Grenon, who was asked stepped down after this past season. The Patriots finished the 2008-09 season with a 5-19 overall record. "He has leadership and passion for the game," Thomas said. "He wanted to teach kids." ...more

Chamberlain junior and star defensive tackle Eric Hammond has withdrawn from the high school, Chamberlain athletic director Richard Scionti confirmed. Scionti said Hammond, a 6-foot-4, 310 pound tackle, withdrew on Tuesday. Hammond is the second standout recruit to leave Chamberlain this spring.
