SEBRING –– There's nothing like being in the heat of competition on the golf course, especially when its in your back yard. Six ladies from the Highlands County (Jessica Williams, Melissa Doorlag, Gail Brown, Nela Hodge and Nan Reno all from Sebring and Jacqueline Hartzell of Lake Placid) competed in the 53rd annual Harder Hall Women's Invitational, which ended on Sunday. The history and the level of talent at the prestigious event has drawn the local girls to the event year after year. "This is my third year in the event," Williams said. "I sometimes am a fan on the course watching some of these ladies play. I always pick up little tricks when I'm out there I can use in my own game." Williams, along with Doorlag , has been playing with the championship flighted competition, while Brown, Hodge, Reno and Hartzell have been teeing it up in the Ben Roman division. ...more

SEBRING –– Nobody ever question the heart and desire of Alison Walshe. The University of Arizona golfer overcome the worst of holes to shoot a 4-under 68 and earn a three-shot victory over Taylore Karle to capture the championship flight of the 53rd annual Harder Hall Women's Invitational on Sunday. Walshe, who was one shot up on Karle as she made the turn, hit her tee shot into the woods and carded a triple bogey to fall two shots back, putting her prospects for victory in doubt. ...more

SEBRING — No lead is ever safe in golf, especially with 36 holes left to play. Taylore Karle shot an even-par 72 to hold off the hard-charging Alison Walshe, who carded a 4-under 68 to pull within one shot of the lead during the third round of the 53rd annual Harder Hall Women's Invitational on Saturday. Walshe, who was five shots back heading into Saturday's round carded birdies on the final three holes to keep hot on the heels of the leader.
