TARPON SPRINGS - In two weeks the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center will reverberate with an international flair, when Joe Zeytoonian, an internationally known musician and composer, and Myriam Eli, a professional dancer, perform their special blend of Middle Eastern and Greek music and dance.
Their one-time local performance takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Cultural Center, 101 S. Pinellas Ave.
Their group, Harmonic Motion, focuses on presenting high-caliber folkloric and cross-cultural improvisational projects through music and dance, said Gen Haley, city Cultural Services spokeswoman.
Musician and composer Zeytoonian and dancer Myriam Eli will teach and perform Middle Eastern, Armenian and North African music and dance with musical blends from the world of jazz, avant-garde, flamenco, Indian, Balkan, African, Afro-Cuban, Sephardic and other dance and music forms.
The duo has performed in concerts throughout the United States, Latin America, Japan and Europe. Eli has choreographed some of the smooth moves used by Latin singer Shakira, while Zeytoonian has recorded with Gloria Estefan.
