DUNEDIN - Dunedin golfer Justine Knox will be making her first appearance at the state championships next week after a second-place tie in the Class 2A Region 4 tournament at Heritage Springs Golf Course in Trinity.
The junior shot an even-par 71 that tied her with King High's Kelsey Gibson. Madison Opfer, a Durant High sophomore, placed first with a 4-under 67.
Knox is the only girl golfer at Dunedin and this will mark her first-ever trip to the state tournament. That takes place Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ocala Golf Club. She finished sixth in regionals in 2008 and just missed qualifying for states.
