TARPON SPRINGS - A man referred to as a visionary environmentalist and proponent of environmental causes will talk about efforts to have states and cities adopt the philosophy of going green.
Joseph Makli will lead the free discussion at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum, in Craig Park.
Makli is an ecological activist with a deep commitment to social and environmental responsibility, according to Gen Haley, marketing and communications coordinator of the city Cultural Services Department. Makli is cofounder of Seven-Star Inc., a green event planner, producer and consultancy based in Asheville, N.C.
During his appearance here, Makli will highlight pro-environment achievements in Florida. Tarpon Springs, for example, has received a sliver designation from the Green Cities Coalition.
This is the second in a series of sustainability talks the city is offering.
