TUESDAY:
Baseball: Dunedin at Tarpon Springs – 7 p.m.
The Spongers will be looking to avenge a 4-2 loss handed to them by Dunedin on Feb. 27. In that game, Tarpon Springs starter Tommy Organ got off to a rough start by allowing three runs in the first inning, but he settled down nicely to let the Spongers try the comeback.
Dunedin (8-2, 6-1), the defending state champion, is trying to retain its grip atop on the Class 5A, District 9 standings. Another district blow to Tarpon (4-3, 3-3) will severely limit the Spongers' chances at a higher seeding in the tournament.
THURSDAY:
Baseball: East Lake at Palm Harbor University – 4 p.m.
PHU (6-2, 5-2) is trying to keep pace with Class 5A, District 9 leader Dunedin and beating a talented East Lake squad would keep the Hurricanes on the Falcons' heels. East Lake (8-3, 3-3) edged PHU 7-6 in 8 innings earlier this month. The teams traded scores back and forth over the majority of the game, but the Eagles held on.
Both teams are playing solid, all-around baseball and this day game should be hotly contested.
