The Suncoast Singers and Tarpon Springs Rotary Club will join forces in a fundraiser to provide scholarships for Tarpon Springs High School students.

The Suncoast Singers will present "Broadway for Kids From 2 to 92" next Saturday, at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center.

"We try to provide a wide spectrum of Broadway music for all ages," said Suncoast Singers President Dennis G. LaPointe.

The 60-member vocal group will present a musical menu ranging from music from Disney movies to adult favorites from Broadway plays, including "Chicago," "Chorus Line" and "Stop the World - I Want to Get Off."

The 29-year-old chorus teams up with the Rotary Club of Tarpon Springs twice a year to aid Rotary projects.

Funds raised from the 90-minute performance will go into the Rotary scholarship program. The club partners with the nonprofit Pinellas Education Foundation to provide four-year scholarships to deserving seniors through the Doorways Scholarship Program.

In addition, it will give several smaller scholarships of about $500 to deserving Tarpon Springs graduates.

Rotary members are hoping the concert will go a long way in fattening their scholarship fund. "With the economy being so tight, we haven't raised as much money as in the past," said Ron Haddad, past president of the Rotary Club.

The chorus has teamed up with the Rotary Club for the past two years. It presents two concerts a year benefitting the club. In 2006, it performed at Carnegie Hall with students from East Lake High School. The Suncoast Singers' director, Ron Knabel, is the high school's music director.

The chorus also performs two yearly concerts each at the Palladium in St. Petersburg and Faith Presbyterian Church Hall, where it practices.

It does a variety of music, including jazz, country and pop. Ages of members range from the 1930s to the '70s.
