Hospitals providing estimated ER wait times online

TAMPA - Patients wondering how long they'll be sitting in an emergency room can find out for the Hospital Corporation of America facilities in West Central Florida, including Brandon Regional Hospital.

The company provides an estimated wait time for its emergency rooms that can be accessed online or by texting ER to 23000. The text response will give the waiting time for HCA emergency rooms nearest the ZIP code provided.

The information is available at each hospital's Web site or at the main HCA West site, www.hcawestflorida.com.

The estimates are based on the average wait times for the last four hours and are updated every 30 minutes.

The wait time is an estimate of how long it will take a qualified medical practitioner to see the patient. Other medical personnel may see the patient earlier.
