No one is looking out for the best interests of the residents of the unincorporated communities of Pinellas County. If any member of the Pinellas County legislative delegation has constituents who live in the unincorporated area, please pass legislation to put a stop to the diversion of most of our sales tax revenues from the unincorporated area budget to the Pinellas countywide budget.
Neither Hillsborough nor Pasco diverts population-based revenues they receive on behalf of their unincorporated area residents. Times are tough and we can no longer afford to subsidize the countywide budget.
Will someone be a champion for the unincorporated residents, who have no voice? To stand by and watch while we are being literally robbed is not honorable. At the very least we are victims of financial abuse.
The cumulative effect of having such a huge portion of a major revenue source diverted from the budget for the unincorporated area is having a detrimental impact on basic public safety and quality of life in the unincorporated communities.
