PALM HARBOR - The Palm Harbor Library will close for two months to complete the final chapter in its yearlong renovation project.
The library has remained open during the past nine months of renovation, even during times of heavy construction, but the building cannot safely remain open during the final phase, said Debbie Phillips, library spokeswoman.
Palm Harbor Library is located at 2330 Nebraska Ave.
The sound of jackhammers and nail guns has replaced the solitude of the reading rooms and study areas.
A newly designed adult services area, reference desk and bookstore are being finished.
New children's area, conference room, study rooms and teen room have already been completed. New lighting and carpeting has been installed in those areas.
The library will be closed from Oct. 6 to Jan. 5, to enable remodeling of the front entrance, restrooms, lobby, community room and checkout area.
In an effort to continue providing service, a mini-library will be set up in the parking lot of the library to receive and dispense a limited number of materials, Phillips said.
A grand opening party is planned on Saturday, Jan. 10.
