TARPON SPRINGS - Mayor Beverley Billiris told Commissioner Peter Dalacos he is the cause of long City Commission meetings that sometimes drag on more than six hours.
In a memo to Dalacos dated Sept. 4, she asked the commissioner to shorten his remarks and ask pertinent questions.
"You have a history of spending over 45 minutes of questions on one agenda item," she wrote Dalacos.
"You have shown no regard to the rest of the board or anyone else in the audience who may have an item that is at the end of the agenda for the evening," she added.
She told Dalacos his lengthy comments and questioning gives a perception of grandstanding.
Fellow commissioners told The Suncoast News they Dalcos can be more precise and still have his say.
Dalacos told The Suncoast News he is trying to make government more transparent for the people. He said he is trying to inform the public about issues the commission tackles and bring them into the process.
He said he will not be stifled by the Mayor, who has "a vendetta" against him.
