Final days for soccer registration, tryouts

Final football, cheerleading notice

The Tarpon Springs Jr. Spongers - Its final day of registration for football and cheerleading is today, Saturday, at the Tarpon Springs Community Center, 400 Walton Ave. Participations fees are: Contact football, $160; Cheerleading, $175; Flag football, $75; and Mascot cheerleading, $115. All fees, along with a birth certificate, Tarpon Recreation Center card, two school color photos, and a parent or legal guardian with photo ID are required. Youth soccer camps with foreign flavor

Countryside Youth Soccer Association - The Italian Soccer School Program will return to Clearwater soccer fields for a fifth year from July 14 -18. According to the associations' Web site: "Staff coaches from many of Italy's top professional teams will be using some of the latest training techniques used in Italy today." The camp is designed for players 8 - 15 and will be $225 per player if registered by June 23. Fees increase to $250 afterward. Tarpon Springs Futbol Club - Area youths will have the opportunity to learn from the one of the premier soccer camps in America on June 9-13, when the Challenger British Soccer Camps take over Riverside Park. The five-day camps are for all ages, and costs range from $86-103. Players will participate in daily practices, individual skill development, a World Cup-style tournament, and other activities. Unique to many camps, there is also an opportunity to be a host family for coaches coming from overseas. East Lake Arsenal - The East Lake Arsenal will stay local for its yearly summer camp, receiving tutelage from the University of South Florida coaching staff at East Lake area soccer fields from July 21-25. Two sessions will be incorporated to split up age groups and skill levels. Players from ages 5-12 will practice from 9 a.m.-12:00 for a $115 registration fee. Those aged 8-16 will play from 9 a.m. until - 4 p.m. for $210. The East Lake Soccer Club's assistant director of coaching, former Columbus Crew and Kansas City Wizards goalkeeper Adegboyega "Bo" Oshoniyi, is a USF assistant coach. It is also an opportunity for kids to be trained by coaches from a 2007 NCAA Men's College Cup Sweet 16 team.
