OLDSMAR, Fla. -- The city's time-honored tradition of saluting our nation's fallen defenders continues this Monday, Memorial Day.
The city will pay homage May 26 to the nation's military dead during ceremonies at 10 a.m. in Veteran's Memorial Park.
The park is on the shores of Upper Tampa Bay, at 250 Shore Drive E.
Lt. Col. Jennifer L. Uptmor, commander of the 310th Airlift Squadron, based at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, will be the featured speaker, according to Holly LiBaire, city communications coordinator.
Members of American Legion Post 238, in Safety Harbor, will serve as color guard.
Emmet Bondurant, a Clearwater-based bagpipe player, will perform patriotic and reverent music during the Memorial Day observance.
The day will also mark Oldsmar's official launch of its commemorative brick paver program, LiBaire said. The bricks, which cost $100 each, will be set around Memorial Plaza, in the park.
Proceeds from the brick program will enable the city to improve Memorial Park, LiBaire said.
