SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - "Trees Are Cool."
Those who want to spread that message will soon be able to affix the state's newest license plate to their vehicle.
The license plate bearing the message will be unveiled at 4 p.m. on Arbor Day, Friday, Jan. 18, at the gazebo in John Wilson Park, on Main Street.
Gov. Charlie Crist and state Rep. Bill Heller, D-St. Petersburg, will join City Commission members and other dignitaries at a special Arbor Day tree-planting ceremony.
The tree to be planted is a large Southern red cedar provided by the International Association of Arboriculture.
The association lobbied for the "Trees Are Cool" license plate, which will cost motorists an additional $25. The license shows a large majestic tree with three birds flying over a sunset on blue water.
At the gazebo the city Park's Department will give away little trees to commemorate Arbor Day, while supplies last.
Unveiling of the license will be part of the city's daylong Arbor Day celebration.
From 6 - 10 p.m. the city's third Friday Music Series, with musical concerts will be presented at the gazebo and the courtyard of the Harbor Pointe residential-retail complex.
Arbor Day festivities actually will be kicked off downtown at the noon on Friday, Jan. 18, with a concert featuring the blues sounds of Liz Pennock and Dr. Blues.
