CLEARWATER, Fla. - CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has agreed to pay for the entire Honeymoon Island beach restoration project, Pinellas County staff informed the County Commission today.
The estimated cost of the beach rehabilitation work is $2.18 million.
The state and county originally were going to share the cost of placing 160,000 cubic yards of sand on a portion of the beach at Honeymoon Island State Park and installing erosion-control devices to keep the sand in place.
The project is expected to be complete by mid-February.
