TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - City residents who want to ask a firefighter-paramedic about rescue equipment or a public works employee exactly what happens when a toilet is flushed can have those questions and many others answered next Saturday during the Tarpon Springs City Celebration.
The annual street party, in its fourth year, lets people meet and mingle with city staff members and department heads.
It will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, on Lemon Street in front of the Tarpon Springs Public Library.
Fire Chief Steve Moreno, event coordinator, said attendance at this event has grown each year. From 1,200 to 2,000 people will attend the street party next week, he predicted.
There should be something of interest for everyone at the City Celebration, according to Moreno. For example, people will be able to see how various types of trucks and other equipment works, he said.
In addition, representatives of all city departments will be at the celebration. Demonstrations will take place throughout the event.
There will be free hot dogs and drinks. The Police Department's Cops and Kids youth program will sponsor games and activities for youngsters. Library staff will coordinate other activities for children.
