Joan Adkins, in her Dec. 20 letter to the editor "A Threat," worries that President-elect Barack Obama will lead the country in the wrong direction by unwisely risking public money.
If that's part of "his agenda," as Adkins suggested it is, he is making some strange appointments. They include conservative financial heavyweights like Timothy Geithner as treasury secretary and Paul Volcker as chairman of Obama's planned Economic Recovery Advisory Board, to cite two examples.
As for the Detroit bailout, it is important for citizens to express their opinions, both in print, as Ms. Adkins has done, or via Obama's presidential transition Web site, at http://change.gov/page/s/economy.
