EAST LAKE - East Lake wasted no time in racking up its fifth win Monday night.
The Eagles easily defeated Osceola 83-28 and improved their record to 5-1 on the season.
In large part because of its swarming defense, East Lake jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the game and the rout. Osceola was forced into 22 turnovers in the first half.
The Eagles took advantage of virtually every mistake and were up 35-7 after one quarter and 62-18 at the half.
Forwards Walter Smith (17 points) and Kendall O'Neill (14 points) led East Lake in scoring while only playing little more than one and a half quarters.
Senior guard Cornelius Rowell added nine points and pulled down 10 first-half rebounds.
The Eagles will now gear up for one of their biggest tests of the season on Wednesday night when undefeated Lakewood High (5-0) comes to visit.
