With Tropical Storm Fay having shifted its course to the east, Pinellas County has cancelled its earlier evacuation order.
According to Sally Bishop, Pinellas County emergency management director, "We were very fortunate that the storm direction turned and remind residents to stay vigilant in their storm preparedness plans and continue to monitor weather conditions on an on-going basis."
The county announced at 9 a.m. Tuesday that its emergency operations center would cease Fay-related operations at 10 a.m.
Pinellas County government offices and Pinellas County schools, however, will remain closed Tuesday and will reopen on Wednesday.
