SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - A portion of a sea wall in need of repair at Safety Harbor City Marina will receive a facelift by early next year.

About 260 feet of weathered sea wall will be refaced with vinyl sheet piling and a concrete cap, said City Engineer William Baker.

Safety Harbor Commissioners unanimously awarded a $166,952 contact to St. Petersburg-based Seaway Marine Contractors last week.

The maximum price for the improvements includes a guaranteed completion date of Feb. 29, 2008, Baker said.

The project will also include concrete caps placed atop pilings.

Under terms of the contact, the existing sea-wall cap will be broken into rubble and placed along the base of the sea wall. The metal reinforcing bar from the demolished sea wall will be hauled away.

Some sections of docks in the municipal marina on Veterans Memorial Lane will be modified to accommodate the new sea wall. Those changes include putting in dock pilings.

The new sea wall cap will have conduits for electricity and water lines.

A handrail and sidewalk at the sea wall will also be installed.
