EAST LAKE, Fla. - EAST LAKE, Fla. - Pinellas detectives made quick work of two men involved in the Tuesday morning robbery of an East Lake-area convenience store clerk.
The Sheriff's Office has arrested Robert B. Williamson, 49, 3895 Tanager Place, Palm Harbor, on one count of unarmed robbery and John J. Devlin, 47, 2078 Attache Court, Clearwater, on one count of being an accessory to unarmed robbery.
According to a Sheriff's Office press release, Williamson attacked from behind a female clerk at the 7-Eleven store at 1290 East Lake Road and took the money bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash the clerk was taking to deposit in the bank. The robber punched the clerk during the hold-up, deputies said.
The hold-up took place around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The assailant then fled on foot through a wooded area to a nearby office center complex. There got into a pearl-white Cadillac DeVille with dark tinted windows and drove away.
Responding to a report of the robbery, deputies immediately set up a perimeter and later spotted a vehicle matching the description parked in front of a private residence located at 3895 Tanager Place.
Williamson, deputies said, was arrested around 2 p.m. Devlin was arrested on the charge of being an accessory to the robbery for his role in attempting to aid Williamson in his escape.
Deputies discovered that Devlin had a portion of the stolen money in his possession. Williamson had given the money to Devlin, deputies said.
