SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - A portion of the sea wall in need of repair at the Safety Harbor Marina will receive a facelift by early next year.
About 260 feet of weathered sea wall will be refaced with vinyl sheet piling and a concrete cap, said City Engineer William Baker.
Safety Harbor Commissioners unanimously awarded a $166,952 contact to St. Petersburg-based Seaway Marine Contractors last week.
The city's engineering division negotiated a guaranteed maximum price for the project that will also see concrete caps placed atop pilings at the marina.
Under terms of the contact, the existing sea wall cap will be broken into rubble and placed along the base of the sea wall. Old rebar will be hauled away.
Some sections of docks will be modified to construct the new sea wall, which includes putting dock pilings near the sea wall.
Sleeves through the new sea wall cap will be provided for electricity and water supply conduits.
A new handrail and sidewalk at the sea wall will also be installed. The guaranteed maximum price includes a guaranteed completion date of Feb. 29, 2008, Baker said.
