TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - A developer's proposal to build one of the most significant projects in the city's downtown district in many years, Meres Crossing at Meres Boulevard and Alt. 19, is moving forward.
Three parties, the city, A.G. Armstrong Development and Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, have been in talks to construct a commercial-residential development with a Sweetbay grocery and Region's Bank as its main anchors, said Joseph DiPasqua, development services director.
For several years a portion of the site was home to Tarpon Pines Mobile Home Park.
The proposed mixed-use project will include a park and mix of medical suites, retail space, restaurants and condominiums.
DiPasqua said the project would meet several needs in that area of downtown. It would provide much needed adding parking for the area, medical office space for the hospital and housing.
The grocery, bank and mix of retail are expected to attract more people to that area of downtown.
