PALM HARBOR, Fla. - PALM HARBOR, Fla. - An evacuation and bomb search at Palm Harbor University High School came off today without incident.
The evacuation and search of the high school campus was a planned in response to a bomb threat received last week, according to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office.
The threat contained a specific date and time, noon on Oct. 8, according to a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
Early Monday, deputies with bomb sniffing dogs conducted two planned sweeps of the school, at 6:30 and 7:15 .a.m.
Later, students were evacuated to the school's football field, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
When a third search was then conducted and proved negative, students and school personnel were allowed to return to classes, according to the Sheriff's Office.
In another matter of student safety, a number of schools in the Clearwater area were locked down Monday following a shooting in a convenience store parking lot near the intersection of Betty Lane and Springdale Street, according to the Clearwater Police Department and the Pinellas School District.
