SAFETY HARBOR — This year's 4th Dock of the Bay Festival will showcase talented musicians with local ties.
"Each of the five bands includes at least one member that has ties to Safety Harbor," said Joe Cooper, special events coordinator.
Some band members are employees of businesses on Main Street, while other groups include residents or business owners, Cooper said.
The Festival takes place Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. at the Safety Harbor Marina.
"The day-long entertainment will surely showcase Safety Harbor's talented side," he added.
The Festival is the kick-off event to a busy fall calendar, he said.
Bands scheduled to appear on the Budweiser True Music Stage are: guitarist Dave Bearce, the classic rock group Big Deal, the rock and blues of DNA, classic rock of the Wildlife Refugees and blues rockers Twist Of Fate.
The North Pinellas Woman's Club will bring more than 30 fine artists and crafters into the city to display their creations.
Several food vendors will serve up taste treats ranging from hot dogs to seafood, chicken and beef.
Inflatable rides will also be available for children.
This year the city is partnering with the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce to present the daylong festival.
Last year, when the chamber held the event on its own as a two-day festival, an estimated 14,000 visitors attended. This year it is expected about 10,000 revelers will participate.
Next year it is likely the event will return as a two-day festival as another joint venture, Cooper said.
