SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - An exhibit celebrating Christmas past and present, "Happy Hollydays," opened late last week at the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History.

Some decorated trees and holiday arrangements in the exhibit will be under the gavel in a silent auction, according to Ron Fekete, museum curator. Other items can be purchased.

The items in the exhibit were donated by the city, Safety Harbor Library, Colonial Florist, McMullen Flower Shoppe and local artists, Fekete said.

This special exhibition also has a variety of holiday and seasonal paintings, plates, toys and wreaths on display, all available for purchase, he said.

The private, nonprofit Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History is at 329 Bayshore Blvd. S.

Holiday items can be purchased as gifts.

During the exhibit, the museum will become Santa's helper by collecting toys for needy Safety Harbor children, Fekete said.

Visitors who bring a toy to the exhibit will be admitted free and given a chance to experience the true meaning of the season, according to Fekete. The donated toys will be sent to the city's "Santa's Helpers" program for distribution to the community's children in need, he said.

The "Happy Hollydays" exhibit will be on display through the end of the year.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 1 - 4 p.m.

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors, teens and children 7-12. Children younger than 7 are admitted free.

For further information call the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History at 727-726-1668 or by e-mail.
