DUNEDIN, Fla. - DUNEDIN, Fla. - Rhythm and blues chart-topper Eric Lindell headlines the 17th Annual Dunedin Wines The Blues, music festival and international wine tasting, tonight.
More than 30,000 music lovers and wine tasters are expected to pour into Main Street for the Downtown Dunedin Merchant's Association's and Community Redevelopment Agency's biggest event from 5 to 11 p.m.
"This is a big year for the festival for several reasons," said Trina Cooney, one of the organizers and owner of Flanagan's Irish Pub, said
For the first time a chart-topping, nationally recognized, performer like Lindell will headline the event, she said.
California-born, New Orleans-schooled, singer-songwriter Lindell performs dozens of original songs that combine rhythm and blues, reggae, rock and blues.
He performs on stage in Pioneer Park stating at 9 p.m.
Other well-known blues performers also scheduled to perform include Wendy And The Soul Shakers. She starts off the evening's entertainment at 5 p.m. with a mix of classic rock, blues and funky soul.
Her band will be followed by the new-school soul sounds of Al "Coffee" McDaniel performing at 7 p.m.
Chic-A-Boom Room and La Maison Gourmet will also feature their own live music.
Cooney said this year the event will also offer a wider variety of wines to sample than ever before. Nineteen varieties of wine from around the world will be available at from $4 to $5 per glass.
Food vendors from several restaurants and 30 arts and crafters will line Main Street from Broadway to Louden Avenue. The street will be transformed into a pedestrian mall during the event.
