TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - City Commissioner Robin Saegner has received an early Christmas present of sorts: a free pass to another term on the City Commission.
No one qualified to oppose Saenger in the 2008 municipal election by this week's deadline, so Saenger will win re-election in a walk-over.
Three candidates, however, have qualified to run for the seat Commissioner David Archie must relinquish because of term limits in the city charter.
The three candidates are:
• Tod Eckhouse, who owns a real estate investment company.
• Herb Elliott, a lawyer and former Tarpon Springs city attorney.
• Susan Slattery, who owns a mortgage services company.
The nonpartisan municipal election will take place on Tuesday, March 11.
