TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - While they serve the community throughout the year in all sorts of ways, it is during the holidays that the Police Department gets to perform a service that is especially rewarding, ensuring that young residents get to enjoy one of childhood's most cherished experiences.
Every year, the department's Cops and Kids Christmas Program provides gifts to children in the Tarpon Springs area whose families are having difficult times. On average, the program make about 250 children's Christmases a little brighter.
There is still time to make donations to the Cops and Kids Christmas Program. New, unwrapped gifts for children can be brought to the Police Department headquarters, 444 S. Huey Ave.
Gifts are needed for boys and girls, suitable for all ages from infants to teenagers. Gifts can be brought to the police station through Dec. 21.
Cash donations are also being accepted to purchase special "wish list" items. Bring cash or checks to the station or mail checks to the station. All checks should be made payable to Tarpon Springs Police Department Cops/Kids Program. Checks or cash will be accepted any time.
The Police Department remind residents that they do not solicit for donations by telephone.
