CLEARWATER, Fla. - CLEARWATER, Fla. - North Pinellas residents will have a couple of Saturday opportunities to legally dispose of hazardous waste earlier next year.
The conservation resources unit of Pinellas County Utilities will collect at no charge unwanted electronic equipment and chemical waste from household sources, first in the East Lake area and then Dunedin, officials announced today.
The East Lake hazardous waste collection will take place Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at East Lake High School, 1300 Silver Eagle Drive. The collection in Dunedin will take place Feb. 2, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Dunedin High School, 1651 Pinehurst Road.
Household hazardous waste items that will be accepted include fluorescent light bulbs, cleaners, computers, television sets, printers, ink cartridges and rechargeable household batteries. Items such as pesticides, paints, paint thinners, fertilizers and automotive fluids will also be collected.
The county on these days will not accept waste from commercial, business or industrial sources, utilities officials stress.
