PALM HARBOR, Fla. - PALM HARBOR, Fla. - This year it's going to be difficult to miss the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce's 33rd Fine Arts, Crafts and Music Festival.

The artistic happening, today and tomorrow, Dec. 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., will be strategically located in the parking area at the newly opened Belcher Road entrance to St. Petersburg College's Tarpon Springs Campus.

The entrance was created earlier this year when Belcher Road was extended from Alderman Road to Klosterman Road.

The show will have greater visibility from Belcher Road, which will be the only entry point into the event, said Connie Davis, president and chief operating officer of the chamber.

Several years ago, the show moved to the SPC campus from another high-profile spot, the downtown Palm Harbor historic district. When the event was held on the rolling SPC campus proper, however, the college buildings and grounds blocked the view of the festival of passing motorists.

Artists also had a tough time pushing their large exhibits up hilly areas on the college grounds.

This year, everything will take place in the parking area that will be more convenient for artists and visitors alike, Davis said.

The show will feature around 150 artists and crafts people from around the country vying for $11,500 in cash awards and prizes.

"We choose a variety of high-quality artists for this show," Davis said.

The show will have more food vendors than in the past and more musical options, ranging from acoustic and jazz, to oldies and classics.

Once again, the Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, which is on SPC Tarpon Campus, to provide an area offering arts and crafts for children, Davis said.

Admission is free. Parking is $3 with proceeds to benefit the St. Petersburg College Art Scholarship Fund.

No dogs or pets other than service dogs will be permitted.
